Pre-Shipment Inspection in Finland

Final visual, quantity, marking, documentation and packing checks before industrial equipment leaves the manufacturer or supplier.

Final inspection and shipment-readiness verification for industrial equipment, components and project deliveries.

Final condition and completeness

The inspection can be tailored to the equipment, packing method and documents available before dispatch.

  • Visual condition and obvious transport-sensitive areas
  • Quantity, item identification, nameplates and shipping marks
  • Completeness of agreed accessories, loose items and documentation
  • Preservation, protection and packing condition
  • Status of open points identified before shipment

Packing and marking

Packing inspection focuses on observable condition and agreed project requirements rather than the carrier’s transport responsibility.

  • Crate, skid or protective wrapping condition
  • Weather protection, openings, flanges and sensitive surfaces
  • Package identification and destination markings
  • Photographs before and after closing when access and timing allow

Final report

The report gives the purchaser a documented view of the equipment condition and delivery status observed before dispatch.

  • Equipment and package identification
  • Quantity and marking observations
  • Packing and preservation observations
  • Photographs and open items requiring project follow-up
FIELD INSIGHT

What matters during the inspection

Pre-shipment inspection should confirm more than external appearance. Equipment identity, outstanding technical items, preservation, marking, packing condition and the document status should be checked together so the buyer understands what is physically ready to dispatch.

TECHNICAL BASIS

Documents and standards

For Pre-Shipment and Final Inspection, the technical basis comes from the purchase order, project specification, approved supplier documents and equipment requirements. IEC, EN, ISO, ASME, API or other references are used only when they are specified for the actual equipment or project.

  • Final inspection / release checklist used by the project
  • Packing and marking requirements
  • Approved drawings and equipment list
  • Open-item / punch status
  • Preservation, packing and shipment documentation when included

Practical questions

Can pre-shipment inspection be combined with FAT?

Yes. When timing permits, final visual, identification, completeness and packing-related checks can follow the witnessed FAT.

Can packing be checked after the equipment is closed inside a crate?

Visibility depends on timing. The best evidence is obtained when inspection is arranged before final closing, with additional photographs after packing if requested.

Is quantity verification possible for multi-item deliveries?

Yes, when the packing list or project item list is available and the items are accessible for identification.
